A Slicker Cover is a poly/vinyl film cover that fits over the original equipment pad that came with your table. Each Slicker is built to fit the original equipment pad precisely. If you are using a second market pad, there may be differences, and we suggest you measure the pad dimensions and contact us to make sure you receive a Slicker cover that will fit your pad properly.

The Slicker Cushion eliminates the fit problem. Slicker Cushions feature a lined pad that is permanently welded inside a Slicker cover. Each Slicker cushion is designed to fit the original equipment table for a specified machine. The pad is not replaceable, but is a very inexpensive way to renew the pad at the same time as the cover. If your table is not standard for the type of machine you are using, we suggest you contact us and give us table or cradle dimensions to insure correct fit.

Slickers utilize a flap system that is integrated with table safety belts, creating a “tub” around the patient to contain contaminants on the table until released to the floor, simplifying clean up. The illustrations below show the operation. Since slickers are constructed of poly film, and hook and loop tape, they are latex free. All materials meet ISO 10993 bio-sensitivity standards.

Bare skin and some clothing may not slide across poly film very easily. we suggest that you use a sheet or blanket to position the patient. The sheet or blanket also provides additional ease of clean up and mitigates the cold surface for the patient.

The Slicker is not sterile when shipped. We suggest a thorough cleaning with a standard
cleaner or disinfectant commonly used in your hospital environment, or a bleach/water solution
as recommended by the Center for Disease Control before each use. Germicide may also be
used, however it may cause discoloration and create a sticky film on the cover.
Always leave the CT Slicker or Slicker Cushion on the cradle to maximize table cleanliness.
We suggest a one-year replacement cycle under normal use to provide the highest level of
cleanliness for your patients. Under heavy use, the product should be replaced more frequently

Artifact can be caused by the x-ray beam passing through the cover film obliquely, such as when it lays over the table rails. As machines have attained higher resolutions artifact is a more sensitive issue. Recognizing this problem, RadScan Medical has refined the geometries used in Slicker products, and a new pad configuration that has successfully passed test site evaluation in this regard is available upon request. We are constantly evaluating new materials to enhance performance while maintaining cover durability.

We do offer a version that was originally designed for trauma centers, emergency rooms, or facilities with high CT usage due to the ease of replacing the individual components of the Slicker Cushion set. This style Slicker Cushion set features a curved bottom which provides a flat-top surface instead of curved.
